FAQ's

Frequently Asked Questions

1) What should I wear to church?

There is no dress code at Mount Vernon Community Church. Don’t hesitate to arrive in casual, comfortable clothing or your “Sunday best” – you’ll be welcome.

4) What kind of music will I hear?

At Mount Vernon Community Church you’ll hear a combination of traditional hymns and Christian contemporary.

7) Do you practice infant baptism?

Baby dedications are an opportunity to give thanks for the child, recognize the responsibility of the parents to raise their child in the way of the Lord, acknowledge the support of the church community, and bless the child and family. Baby dedications are scheduled as needed.

2) Can I bring my entire family to church?

All are welcome at Mount Vernon Community Church. As a body we are imperfect people who worship a perfect God. Nursery Care is available. Children and tweens between the ages of four and thirteen may participate in children’s church. Children are invited to the front during worship service for a Pastor’s sermon and then dismissed for children’s church.

5) Who can take communion?

Communion, or the Lord’s Supper is offered the first Sunday of every month. The bread and cup are distributed independently to all who want to partake regardless of their denomination. The elements are blessed and held until all can partake at the same time.

3) What if I am hearing impaired?

At Mount Vernon Community Church we offer hearing impaired assistance. Please let someone know and you’ll be provided the appropriate aid.

6) How do you take offering?

Instead of passing the plate, the offering plates are in the foyer for your tithes and offerings. Funds are used to pay the preacher’s salary, utilities, upkeep on the buildings and grounds, and trustee-approved missions and other opportunities to serve.
